10/4/2008 10:12:51 AM John --- This coin took a long time to get to me. When I received it yeserday I got very depressed. So I took it to the owner of B and I Coin Shop in Tacoma, WA. He said what I already knew. This coin has two and a half steps and maybe is an ms 60-ms61. I had graded it ms-62 ---Therefore, I am returning the coin... I hsve a lot of respect for you. I am totally baffled. It is so far from "flawles...so far from full steps... so far from ms67, i could not believe it. . I have a 1954 s jefferson with all steps, but with steps that have so many knicks on the steps --- no legit grading company would ever listed it as full steps. so instead of being worth more than 100,000 dollars -- it is worth a few bucks. I apologize for do this to you --- I will send you a more lengthy letter on Sunday. Because I may still be interested in some of your Lincolns -- what I mostly have collected for 50 years. Bob |

8/26/2008 3:39:10 PM Hello John. It has been a while. You have had this coin for sale for a long time. What I need to know is "are there any ticks or gouges on the steps." You and other sellers grade one way. However, the ANA indicates full steps only is official if they are clean and free of imperfections. It drives me nuts, but that is how NGC and PCGS grade.
